Marzili Finalissima

The six portraits were chosen for the final exhibition at Offspace Viktoria before it closes for good in the summer of 2024. For Fabio Mariani, the gallery’s curator and owner, the exhibition titled “La Finalissima” marks the end of a decade dedicated to promoting local art and artists in Breitenrain, the neighborhood where I live in Bern. For “Breitsch,” this will leave an empty space for the next generation to fill. This idea inspired me to select six portraits that symbolize the passage of time through one generation. The portraits are all from the Marzili Portraits, a series in which Fabio expressed a special interest. The series consists of over 5000 portraits of more than 1000 people I photographed from 2020 to 2023 in Marzilibad. Thirty of these portraits will be exhibited in October 2024 in Marzilibad through Fondation JetztKunst.
